Plymouth, MA
Cherry Hill II is a five-story, 35,500 sf addition to an existing elderly apartment complex near downtown Plymouth. It is being developed by the Plymouth Bay Housing Authority, a not-for-profit formed by the Plymouth Housing Authority to create affordable housing in the town.
There are 35 units including two accessible ones. The program includes a series of balconies on the east end facing Plymouth Harbor, and spaces at ground level which can be used for small events. The community room itself has a fireplace and opens to an outdoor terrace.
The exterior cladding features a beige brick base and pilasters, plus two types of siding. Vinyl clapboards are paired with the pilasters to form panels above the base, taking advantage of the shadow line brought by the pilaster to give the facade a sense of depth.
Construction was completed in Summer 2010.
